Greene Room Productions, Theatre Production & Educational Outreach Inc. is making an effort to expand connections with local schools in order to boost and support arts education. GRP has developed a couple of Ed Outreach Programs that tie in with the main stage shows that perform at the Academy of Music in Northampton, MA. This fall GRP will be performing the critically acclaimed fantasy adventure of "James & the Giant Peach" by Roald Dahl. This show is appropriate for elementary grades - 8th grade. GRP has developed a literature & theatre program that encourages students to read, create, and make connections between live theatre art, and the art of the written word. Students earn FREE tickets through this, "Must-See", outreach program and teachers have a creative outlet that fits neatly into the MCAS curriculum requirements. There is also a highly discounted tickets program that gives schools and educational organizations the ability to bring their students to live productions to experience theatre first-hand without breaking the bank. Greene Room Productions brings the wonder and magic of live performances to local students who may not otherwise have the opportunity.

Thank you for taking the time to consider these worthwhile programs and passing them along to the appropriate teachers in your school and/or educational organization. For more information about GRP's "MUST-SEE" and "THEATRICAL FIELD TRIPS" outreach programs, please see the attached sheets. Subject: Broadway Bound: The Theme of a New Session of Theatre Programs

    Details:

Palmer, MA – You’re in a room filled with amazing singers, dancers and actors.  Looking down at your two left feet you start to tremble and ask yourself, “Why would they possibly pick me? Oh no! What am I doing here?” This is a common problem among even the best talents. The audition holding pen although filled with the excitement of the possible, can sometimes be a frightening space to navigate.

This idea is the theme of Greene Room Productions spring session of CenterStage; an educational outreach program formed in 2010.  While learning stage voice and movement, character development, and choreography, students will take part in a show about the obstacles of auditioning. Famous tunes from various Broadway shows are interspersed throughout the cabaret giving each student the opportunity to shine. Short comedic and dramatic scenes illustrate the character’s quirky personalities, misgivings, confidences, and triumphs. Throughout the process students have a chance to learn and practice their actual auditioning skills through improvisational theatre games.

Split into two age appropriate divisions (Division 1: Ages 7-10 and Division 2: Ages 11-18) students are able to learn theatre basics while socializing in a unique, experiential environment.

Registrations are accepted upon a first-come-first-serve basis.  Classes begin the first week of April. For downloadable CenterStage registration forms or information about Greene Room Productions’ ed outreach program for ages 5-6, please visit the GRP website
