Guest Conductor Steven Reineke Leads HSO POPS! November 13
What happens when you mix showgirls and sequins with French horns and cellos? HSO POPS! Goes Vegas. On Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. in Mortensen Hall at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts the Hartford Symphony Orchestra will kick off the 2010-2011 POPS! Series with a musical trip down the infamous “strip.” Led by guest conductor Steven Reineke and featuring a full cast of singers, dancers, and showgirls, this fast-paced, jackpot evening of musical hit after hit will include such popular numbers as Luck Be A Lady, Hey Big Spender, The Lady is a Tramp, Fly Me to the Moon and more.
HSO Executive Director Kristen Phillips says, “Our opening POPS! program will take a spin on the musical roulette wheel with a cast of stars from Broadway and the Vegas Strip. This concert will celebrate the music, the celebrities and the dazzle of the entertainment capital of the world. Just remember, 'What happens at the HSO, stays at the HSO!”
Steven Reineke’s boundless enthusiasm and exceptional artistry have made him one of the nation’s most sought-after pops conductors, composers and arrangers. In 2010-2011, Mr. Reineke began his second season as Music Director of The New York Pops. In addition to conducting the orchestra’s annual Carnegie Hall concert series, Mr. Reineke leads concert tours, recordings and nationwide telecasts, including the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks on NBC Television. Mr. Reineke also serves as Principal Pops Conductor of the Long Beach and Modesto Symphony Orchestras and he retains the title of Associate Conductor of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. Mr. Reineke is also an established symphonic composer, with his works most recently performed by the New York Philharmonic and Los Angeles Philharmonic.
